History
CHS DynAgra is a local ag retail company with a connection to the leading United States cooperative CHS. Based in Western Canada, we are fourth-generation company with a vibrant history.
In 1924, Peter Schmaltz Sr. started a business in Beiseker as a Massey Harris implement dealer, expanding to include automotive sales; his business would later go on to become Beiseker Motors Ltd. Various family members worked in the business over the years, but eventually sons Leo, Felix and Peter Jr. took over the business when Peter Sr. passed away in 1954.
Felix started selling fertilizer as part of Beiseker Motors Ltd in the 1960’s. In 1979, Felix sold his portion of Beiseker Motors Ltd, and started Beiseker Agri Services Ltd with his eldest son, Bruce. In 1980, Felix’s son-in-law Jerry Schneider joined the company, followed by another son, Darren Schmaltz, in 1984. The two most recent additions to the family tradition are Bruce’s two sons, Tasha, now general manager of CHS DynAgra, and Remi who manages our agricultural services offered by Decisive Farming.
In 1979, Beiseker Agri Services Ltd. had four full-time employees. Today, we have grown to 21 full-time employees and now sell a full line of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, seed, finance packages, FlexiScouting, Optimize RX and Know-Risk Farm Management.
In 1995 Beiseker Agri Services Ltd. opened a second location in Carseland. In 1998 we acquired two additional operations, one in Carseland, and one in Standard. In 1999 we purchased another outlet in Rolling Hills. All three of these locations were part of DynAgra Inc. The rights to the name “DynAgra” were part of the transaction.

Our company has always been known for our entrepreneurial spirit, and we’ve had a number of industry firsts. We were the first independently owned company to hire a full-time agronomist. We worked with Charlie Belmar (Valmar Industries) to create a prototype twin bin floater, which is instrumental in the success of DynAgraVRT, now Optimize RX. In 2003, we created a DynAgra Finance division to better serve the financial needs of our customers. In 2004, we developed DynAgraVRT (Variable Rate Technology) to take precision farming to a new standard and in 2010 launched our newest industry leading service, Know-Risk Farm Management, now both part of the services offered by Decisive Farming.
In 2012, we combined agricultural services with the leading United States farmer-owned cooperative CHS and became CHS DynAgra. This marked the first Canadian-based company to join Country Operations a division of CHS. Through this connection we bring a competitive presence to the retail crop input market and have streamlined value to a wide range of farm supplies and business solutions.
